The Peterborough Crown Game Preserve is a vast expanse of Crown Land in Central Ontario, characterized by its rolling hills, undulating plains, and diverse terrain of silt, sand, and shallow soil. This protected area is renowned for its wilderness appeal, offering visitors a chance to explore Eels Creek and the picturesque High Falls. It provides a natural setting for outdoor enthusiasts, emphasizing self-reliant recreation rather than developed park facilities.

"It's an hour's brisk walk, beautiful nature. Camping - the official park is relatively small last time I looked - should be OK and probably will be in the woods away from water. Try to include a visit to the petroglyph site, but make sure you know the opening hours. There's a big fence around the building that covers the site."
"Trail is deteriorating but its still easily hiked. The trail to highfalls from the lot on northy's bay road is easy. Lots of crown land camping opportunities around the falls and if you hike a bit north of the falls you will also find several other campsites on the creek if you can find the trails to them. The park is about a couple of km down the side trail from the falls."
"The area is truly beautiful but people have left their mark. Fire pits mark off old campsites and there is most definitely some garbage present in some areas. Donβt let this discourage you from the beauty of the area."
